Pity her poor children, 9 days after their mother's burial their father was jailed on three counts of embezzling about 2 shilllings from his employer, merchant banker Sir Alexander Drake Kleinwort, sent to Lewes jail and found to be insane and a danger to himself and others. He was committed to Broadmoor the following January. The children were put into the care of the workhouse which placed them with families.
