Do you know that the only son is also dec'd, or do you have his permission to post his name here? If not, I will need to remove his forenames from your opening post as the term of this site are that you do not post details of living people without their permission.
If the only son is not dec'd then in theory you shouldn't be able to find him on the 1939 Register, as the entries for living people are hidden. I will have a look now.

The closed record in Horace's household could belong to his son.
There is this Lily with an incorrect dob, but I've not yet eliminated her: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...nSearchResults

Horace and Lily are at 32 Adderley Rd both sides of WW2 - 1938 and 1947 (erolls).
I'm deleting their son's name now. I will re-instate it if you can confirm he is either dec'd or has given you his permission to post his name here.

Thanks, if this is her with wrong birthday, should be 1 February 1906 and not 28 February 1905, would a parlour maid stay with the family in 1939, far too far away to travel to every day, particularly with their morning duties. Thought servants were dying out after First World War and better job prospects and conditions. https://www.google.com/search?ei=eLk...21.F4noUfwH8jE |

It probably isn't her, but I couldn't eliminate that Lily.
The parlour maid was probably living in as day time workers would be recorded at the place they were sleeping, not at their place of work. She might have been evacuated with her son and not recorded at the new place (in which case the hidden entry at home with Horace would be someone else if the son was with his mother). There are a number of other possibilities. I found a page of 1939 register where the transcriptions of the names were all correct but all the other info was from a different page, so anyone searching for those people would have to get lucky with their search!

I think we might never know, Lily is living with her husband Horace in the 1939 London Electoral Register.
