Leah Benjamin Hart 1789?-1889
Leah was Jewish, so no baptism and I don't know her parents.
I can't remember where I got the information that Leah's maiden name was Benjamin. Anyway at some point she married Zalig Hart, a fishmonger, who is listed as running a fishmonger's at 101 Middlesex Street (Petticoat Lane) in 1836 Pigot's Directory. 1841 HO107/0717/8/~F16 Petticoat Lane Leah Hart 45 fishmonger Sarah 20 Solemon 20 Lipman 15 Benjamin 15 Rachel 14 Judah 10 Michael 7 Joseph 3 ALL BORN IN COUNTY 1851 HO107/1543 626 p. 41 Bell Lane, Spitalfields Middlesex [Bell Lane is parallel to, and east of, Middlesex Street] >>>Leah Hart abt 1795 London Head widow 56 Sarah Hart abt 1820 London Daughter 31 Rachel Hart abt 1828 London Daughter 23 * L [or T] Hart 1818 London Son 33 general dealer Lippsom[or Lipson?] Hart 1822 London Son Joseph Hart abt 1824 London Son Benjamin Hart abt 1826 London Son John Hart abt 1830 London Son Michael Hart abt 1835 London Son [lines underneath all the other occupations] 1861 RG9/266 Folio: 123 Page: 47 Aaron Nathan abt 1833 Spitalfields Head 28 general dealer Rachel Nathan abt 1835 Spitalfields Wife 26 [Leah's daughter] Sava[Laga} Nathan abt 1848 Spitalfields Daughter Lea Nathan abt 1853 Spitalfields Daughter 8 scholar 13 umbrella maker Julia Nathan abt 1856 Spitalfields Daughter 5 Catherine Nathan abt 1858 Spitalfields Daughter 3 Moses Nathan abt 1860 Spitalfields Son 9 months >>>Lea Hart abt 1808 Spitalfields [looks like W in relationship column] 53 no occupation given Maybe: 1871 RG10/509 Folio: 7 17 Bell Lane, Christchurch Spitalfields London Leah Hart abt 1791 Middlesex, widow 80 general dealerRachel Nathan abt 1833 Middlesex, Daughter 38 Unm.* Leah Nathan abt 1854 Middlesex, Daughter 17 [ditto underneath general dealer] Julia Nathan abt 1856 Middlesex, Daughter 15 [ditto underneath general dealer] Katey Nathan abt 1858 Middlesex, Daughter 13 [ditto underneath general dealer] Polly Nathan abt 1863 Middlesex, 8 scholar Moses Nathan abt 1860 Middlesex, Son 11 Benjamin Nathan abt 1868 Middlesex Son 3 Michael Nathan abt 1870 Middlesex, Son 1 death certificate 02 Jan 1889, at 5 Bell Court Leah Hart, age 100, widow of Zalig Hart, a fishmonger. This family tree website says they married 21 Feb 1819 at Great Synagogue, London, but it gives the husband's name as Moses, not Zalig. It also has some info on Leah's father and brother:

Thank you Kite, another avenue to explore! As for the first names, I think Jewish people had synagogue names as well as the ones they used outside. Anyway I shall have to do some more digging.
I think I may have got muddled about Zalig - Leah's son was called Solomon Zalig and alternated his names. Jews usually only name family after members who are dead, but as Solomon Zalig was the eldest of 8 children, its unlikely his father would be called Zalig. Thanks again for that link.
