I've often noticed Peter says:

Tip: always search individual datasets when you can, rather than searching all parish records or all records - this applies whether you're using Ancestry or Findmypast.

which is something I hardly ever do!

I found the people from the sampler in less steps that he did, though I did start with Ancestry, and would have then had to move to fmp to view the PR pages once I know the family were from Staffordshire. I wouldn't have searched for Jane first either.
