There are a couple of possible baptisms on the FamilySearch RecordSearch site:
James Andrew christened 16 Aug 1818 Stockport, parents James and Martha, residence St Mary Stockport, in Bishop's Transcripts but I can't see it listed in Parish Registers. Will check in a minute, though. James Andrew christened 4 Sep 1814 St Mary's, Stockport, parents William and Mary.

And the marriage is on FamilySearch RecordSearch - James Andrew married Ann Bolton, 2 Jan 1836, Cheadle, Cheshire. Residence for both given as Cheadle. Again, they only seem to have it in the Bishop's Transcripts, but maybe they haven't got to those bits of the parish registers yet.

Wow Kite that's fantastic.
How on earth did you find the marriage? I've looked on the LDS many times and have just looked again and can't seem to find anything - what am I doing wrong? |

It's on the RecordSearch pilot site, not the main one:

Thank you so much found them - thought I was going mad.
Hoping to go up to Manchester end of next month so will try and find them in the parish records. Trouble is for the births that era how do I confirm who James's parents were? He had 3 sons James, Robert and William Daughters were Eliza. Hannah and Sarah. St Marys seems to have an abundence of Andrew families. I think Eliza was perhaps after Ann's mother as there was an Eliz Bolton with them in the 1841 census. Think Eliz Bolton died in Macclesfield in 1842 so hopefully when I get the death certificate it will say who her husband was. |

Maybe if you / we dig around enough it'll become clear, for instance, look at the witnesses' names on the marriage (unfortunately RecordSearch doesn't say who they were), who were the other children of the possible parents, look for marriages for them and see if your James was a witness at any (comparing signatures or if he made a mark), look for a marriage for the other James, look for the other James on censuses and see if he ever has any relatives with him, look for wills left by parents, find out the fathers' occupations and see if they give any clues, neighbours on censuses, etc.
