George Wason of Cornwall and Jamaica
Could someone with Worldwide Ancestry please tell me what type of records there are for George Wason in Jamaica?
I am researching him in connection with a Cornish family. The Wason surname was given as a second name to some family members and an H Wason was witness to a will. His will also mentions James and Ann Bennett of Tregony and their daughter Harriet. |

I can't see anything about him in Jamaica on Ancestry apart from family trees which you would have access to anyway:

And nothing on Jamaican Family Search (nothing to do with FamilySearch).
But FamilySearch has the baptism of a Robert Wason, 26 Aug 1797 Kingston, Jamaica, parents George Wason and Ann Roberts, with an image of the PR entry: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61...3A1%3AVH6H-NHP Image number 29. Date of birth shown as June 9th 1797, and Ann Roberts is described as "a mulatto woman". Edit - this record does also come up on Ancestry, but I would have had to put George Wason in as father's name on my search. |

Thanks, Kate. His PCC will is quite interesting. He actually gives his date of birth!
I knew he had a son Robert and a daughter Mary Murl(ey), who later married Robert Holditch. |

I'm wondering if he ever married. He also acknowledges a natural daughter by an Ann Thomas.
