Default Susan Eliza Louisa Bishop

Name - "official" name and what they were known as
Susan Eliza Louisa Bishop - registered with GRO as Eliza Louisa Bishop

Date and place of birth
Reg Jun Q 1841, Brighton Sussex

Names of parents
Benjamin Bishop, bricklayer/maker and Sophia nee Lynn
BUT their first child, born in 1820 was also named Susannah and I don't think she died, I've always been a bit worried this might be Susannah's child.


Date and place of baptism - if applicable
16 May 1841, St Nicholas Brighton.

Details of each of his or her marriages - if any
married Robert Martin on 20 Nov 1859 at St James Shoreditch - she said she was 20 years old and Robert said he was 22. Their first son, Robert Harry Martin, was born 27 Nov 1859 at Stanmore St Islington and baptised at St Nicholas Brighton, on 5 Feb 1860 - I wish someone could tell the circumstances of all this

1871 - 5 Bloomsbury St, Brighton, with mother Sophia and Children. Husband a ship's steward either in NSW or on his way.
1874 - arrived Sydney, per Jerusalem, "husband resident in George St Sydney"
1874-1877 - Milburn Creek Copper Mine, near Cowra NSW
1878 - Old Parramatta Rd Glebe.


Date, place and cause of death
at just 36 years of age, 23 Aug 1878, Old Parramatta Rd Glebe - Cause exhaustion due to pulmonary Phthisis

Date and place of burial / cremation.
25 Aug 1878 at Rookwood Cemetery (CofEsection) with daughter Alice Kate Martin, who died 14 Oct 1883 of the same cause (Phthisis)
