I'm playing on Ancestry and have discovered that my paternal grandmother may have gone to, and returned from, Canada!

Is there anyone with Worldwide who might take a look for me please?

When I click on the ancestry hints button - historical records I get: Ada Alice Clayton listed on Canadian Passenger lists 1865 - 1935 and also UK incoming passenger lists 1878-1960. She was born 1884 and married George Clayton in 1904 so, if it's her, it must have been after 1904.

There's another entry for 1929 for an Ada Clayton traveling with her daughter Enid, who was born in Canada.

Ada was born Middleton? Derbyshire. Is she yours ?

hello Joan, the second one is a definite no as she was born Kelly in Colsterworth. The first one is spot on for age but I was never aware of a Daisy. Will have to look further into that but I suspect she's prolly not mine.

Scrap the one above, that Ada Alice is with her husband Thomas Clayton on a later voyage.

Still looking for your Ada. Where was she born & what were their children's names?

There's an Ada Clayton born about 1882 returning to England 1919, but she's alone, & all it says is "housewife". There's no husband or children with her & it doesn't say where she was born, but that she intends to stay in England. That doesn't help much does it?

Rosie I'm beginning to think the one on Ancestry incoming passenger lists isn't yours!

The other Ada listed who is around the same age seems to have come from Watford

Do you have them on the 1911 in England & is there any reason to think they may have gone to Canada & presumably come back?

Do you know there are no other children in that gap?

There's a girl born in Sleaford district in Q1 1916 who could perhaps be another sibling.

hello each.

Joan, no reason whatsoever to think that they may have gone to and come back from Canada lol. Just that the name popped up on the ancestry historical records and got me all excited. I have just thought to check George's historical records and there is no suggestion of him going to Canada.

I have the family in 1911 living 16 St Michael's Terrace, Lincoln.

We've got George and Ada married 7 years - confirmed by marriage certificate.
3 children - all still living and listed on the census

Alice
Dorothy
George
Also listed John Henry Kelly who is Ada's brother.

The next 3 children Joyce, Dad and Uncle, were all born in 16 St Michael's Terrace.

hmm I see that possible sister. No deaths listed on FBMD up to 1950. Dad certainly has no recollection of any more sibs. I think the only way for me to be sure is check the registers at Lincs RO.
