WWI Question about war graves and memorials
I am probably being very thick here but...
On the War Graves Photographs site I have located someone. http://www.twgpp.org/information.php?id=917014 On the Cemetary bit it says Ypres Menin Gate memorial does that mean that he doesn't actually have a grave just his name on Panel 52. I am assuming thats the case can someone verify this. I've answered my own question that that is the case. Last edited by maggie_4_7; 04-10-09 at 08:23. |

If men are named on the Menin Gate or other such memorials, then there is no known grave for them.

I do have another question.
How can I tell which battle he was killed in? 16th August 1917 obviously in Ypres area. I think I've answered this question again myself sorry to be such a pain. Third Battle of Ypres... Battle of Langemarck possibly. Last edited by maggie_4_7; 04-10-09 at 09:31. |
