Name - "official" name and what they were known as: Joshua Beckitt
Date and place of birth: Manchester according to the 1851 census. Born aprox 1793c from the ages given on information I have. Names of parents: John Beckitt (from an apprentice record for Joshua) & ?? Date and place of baptism: Unknown; however a baptism that keeps jumping out at me is 31st March 1793 at Stockport, Cheshire. Stockport isnt a million miles away from Manchester and the father on this baptism is John Beckitt. THe mother on this one is called Ann. This is from Familysearch Details of each of his or her marriages: 21st February 1813 at St Peter & Paul (Cathedral), Sheffield, to Hannah Birks. Witnesses were both resident witnesses at this church. Occupation(s) - Cutlery Founder/Metal Caster Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on (if s/he lived in census times!): 1808 Joshua appears as an apprentice knife maker in Sheffield 1833: 7 Carr Lane, Sheffield - Whites Trade Directory 1837: 7 Carr Lane, Sheffield - Whites Trade Directory 1841: Carr Lane, Sheffield 1851: 12 Carr Lane, Sheffield Date, place and cause of death: 16th November 1854, Metal Caster of 12 Carr Lane, Sheffield. Aged 62. This information was on burial record. Date and place of burial: 19th November 1854 at General Cemetery, Sheffield. Details of will / administration of their estate: None Memorial inscription: There was previously a memorial at the plot but was destroyed in the late 1970s with a large number of other stones.
