Now that all the surviving service records are online, you can search by village, to see (amongst the surviving records) who joined up with them.

Well, I haven't a sub, but I could still get the surnames & xtian names of the young men my grandfather might have known.

I did try putting in the village name & some names were brought up, but it is hard to tell if they were a correct match as so much is hidden
