Looking for a medal card
I am struggling to find the medal card for one of the men from my war memorial project, can anyone help please?
His name is John J Hall Pte M/21611 ASC, the SDGW on Ancestry has his number as being M2/21611 RASC, but I can't find him using either number. Many thanks |

Lynn, there are 7 medal cards on the National Archives site for John J Hall, Army Service Corps, but none of the numbers match yours

Lynn, have you found him on the CWGC site? I can't see him on there.

What does the CWGC site say? Where did he die?
It is unlikely, but possible that he was killed in this country before serving overseas. |

Well, it is possible that he didn't serve overseas. My grandfather was in the army - from 1913 onwards, but didn't go abroad, so no war medals.

That could be the case then, as he is listed as being at a depot. He is buried in the local cemetery, but I haven't managed to find his grave yet.

So his number is 281611 on the CWGC site. I'll have another try now we have that number, but it could well be as Phoenix said, he didn't serve overseas so there was no medal.
