Default Week 7 - Percival Arthur Lewis Madell

Percival was born in Peckham at the end of 1891, the eldest surviving child of Arthur William Madell and his wife, Louisa, nee Buck.

In 1911 Percival was living with his parents in Hounslow, employed as a drapers warehouseman.

He joined the 15th Battalion of The London Regiment (Prince of Wales' Own Civil Service Rifles - Private 2479) towards the end of 1914 and was posted to France in March 1915.

Percival was killed on 25th May 1915 at the battle of Festubert. He has no known grave, but his name is recorded at the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France, along with over 100 other men killed the same day.
