Quote:
Samuel Docherty, 33, coal miner, born Ireland Catrina Docherty, 9, born Renfrewshire Mary Docherty, 4, born Renfrewshire Isabel Docherty, 1 9 mo, born Renfrewshire Catherine Carnegie, 18, born Scotland Catherine Carnegie married John Mclean and they named one of their children Margaret Docherty McLean. This suggests this is my Catherine in 1841. I then found that a Mary Carnegie married Samuel Docherty in Southend, Argyll, on 4 July 1832. They had the following children: - Catherine Docherty, born 28 November 1832, Southend, Argyll - Isabella Docherty, born 1835, Campbeltown, Argyll - Mary Docherty, born 1836, Abbey, Paisley - Isabella Docherty, born 1839, Abbey, Paisley The parents of my Catherine Carnegie were James Carnegie (b Ireland) and Catherine Scott. They also had a daughter named Mary, born 1813 in Southend, Argyll. Bingo! My Catherine was in Paisley in 1841, with her brother-in-law. It's a guess, but I suspect that her sister Mary Docherty nee Carnegie had died and she went to help look after the children. |
