You need to reduce the scanning area to just the size of the photo - you have scanned both the photo and the scanning bed.

No Bren you need to re scan the photo and set the scanning details to more than 300 DPI

Brenda the image is only 1.344 inches x 1.667 inches and only 96 dots per inch.
When I enlarge it this is what you will see. It needs to be scanned at 300 to 600 dpi to get a better result.
