Just got the the death certificate for James and it states the cause of death as "Decline". It was not certified by a doctor.
Has anyone come across this cause before? Could it be depression? |

Hi Sabrina, I am furiously searching through the research that I did for my step sister and also for my husband because somewhere in there is someone who died of "Decline". I do remember that it had nothing at all to do with state of mind, it was definitely physical.
If and when I find it, I will let you know!

Got it!!!!
Decline was a general term used to describe a gradual wasting away due to a disease. More often than not, Consumption. Hey, I knew I had it somewhere!

Thank you for finding that Sally, that is really interesting.
I know that is a very contagious disease and as one of his daughters died earlier the same year and another the year before that, perhaps they also had it. Now, if certificates were cheaper...... !! I don't know if it was significant, but the person who registered his death, and was present at death, was not a relative (as far as I can tell). |
