Henry William Talbot & Alice Paskins
This couple marry at St Clement Dane 30 January 1852, by licence.
Henry is 23, a gentleman (other occupations include bricklayer, tailor & publican) Alice is 22, daughter of Reuben Paskins, gentleman They both give an address of 9 Newcastle Street. They then scuttle up to Warwickshire, so eldest son can be baptised in Leamington Priors. Henry was in Leamington, aged 12 in 1841 Alice was in Brighton, aged 12 in 1841, with father Reuben, coal dealer aged 30 and mother Mary aged 30 ( Mary not born in county) No trace of Reuben between 1841 and his death in Uxbridge RD in 1861. Henry is not with his widowed mother in Leamington in 1851. Can anyone see either Henry or ALice in 1851? Birthplaces given as Leamington & Brighton respectively on subsequent censuses.

My best mate's granny was married to Alf Talbot. Henry and Alice's son. So, no blood relations, but deep curiosity about Alf's character and his family background. For many years, Best Mate had the aspidistera that grew in Alf's pub!

I knew about the Oxford Arms, but that wasn't Alf's pub, was it? I'm descended from Alf's brother Henry (see WikiTree Talbot-2572), so I don't know anything about Alf except he first married Mary and then Lillian. I have the usual stuff which you can unearth about Henry. Our great mystery is Henry and Alf's grandfather Talbot, who turns up in various records with two different first names - John or Thomas.
And Mary Agen - we think probably Irish or other foreigner. I've just discovered Reuben finished up in St. Bernard's Asylum, Hanwell. This probably explains why Hanwell Cemetery can't find a record of his burial, as he was either put in their own burial ground or, if the body was not claimed, given for dissection etc. Before that I agree he was a dark horse, but tailors usually were. I have a theory that the family came to be involved in the government army-uniform factory in Pimlico. I had contact on a forum with another friend-of-Paskins-descendant some years ago but it went cold. I'll look it up and see if you know about it. Trell Last edited by trellis; 15-06-20 at 10:10.
