William jr's first two children were named William and Abigail, so I think he could well be the son of that couple who married in 1800, but I haven't found a baptism for him yet to help prove it. Is that Wm jrs army record on FMP? Have you looked at the earlier one for Wm Seaman from Norwich (b 1766)?

Can't see him in the wills section of the IDD although there is a Jas Seaman of Heigham in 1837.
Thanks for the tip about the military record for drummer Wm Seaman born 1766 - it's a militia record. It seems to say that he joined 11 Jan 1804 at the age of seven! Which would make him born 1796, too young to be my William sr. then it says he served for 22 years after the age of 16, up to 1835. Which again would mean he was born around 1796/7. And on the second image it says that he was 18 on 11 Jan 1815. I wonder whether findmypast will refund my credits! |

I've sent them in a correction. They seem to have taken his age of 38 in 1835 and used it as his age on attestation in 1804. Well, at least we can rule him out!

Didn't find him (the one who died 1837) in the administrations section of the IDD either, but that would fit if it is my William since William jr was a labourer before he joined the army.

Hello, cousin! Well, if you prove the Bangay connection!
I can't remember how the Norwich Bangays work their way back to North Norfolk, but I do have the trees somewhere.
