Several mundia.com trees that have a lot of things correct about my family (and some incorrect needless to say) have Thomas Crampton and Sarah Rawling as the parents of my MMMF David Crampton who was born in Meanwood.

Publications of the Thoresby Society, 1889 when searched in Google books shows four references to Thomas Crampton, including on page 394 "Samuel son of Thomas Crampton & Sarah his wife (late Rowling), Woodside, Dec. 29, March 1".
http://books.google.com/books?ei=P1j...#search_anchor

Publications of the Thoresby Society, Volume 14, Leeds Grammar School Admission Books, from 1820 to 1900 has references to admission on August 14, 1854 of Thomas Crampton, age 11, son of David Crampton, mason, (page 122). This would be the grandson of the elder Thomas Crampton.

If I believe the mundia trees, then the children of Thomas Crampton include
David Crampton 1807 - 1872
Jane CRAMPTON 1809 -
Samuel CRAMPTON 1811 -

FamilySearch has a marriage between Thomas Crampton and Sarah Rowling 28 Nov 1796 at St Peter, Leeds, Yorkshire. Also the baptism of Samuel Crampton including mother's maiden name same as you have found from the Thoresby Society - born 29 Dec 1811, baptised 1 Mar 1812 at Chapel Allerton, Yorkshire. And David Crampton born 25 Mar 1807, baptised 10 May 1807 at Chapel Allerton, parents Thomas Crampton and Sarah Rawling. Jane Crampton born 10 Aug 1809 baptised 15 Oct 1809, parents Thomas Crampton and Sarah Bowling. Elizabeth Crampton baptised 7 Nov 1813, parents Thomas Crampton and Sarah. Esther Crampton baptised 5 Nov 1815, parents Thomas Crampton and Sarah. Thomas Crampton baptised 6 Jun 1819, parents Thomas Crampton and Sarah. All at Chapel Allerton.

Then there are some others at Chapel Allerton which don't give mother's name but father is Thomas - Joseph Crampton born 21 Oct 1799 and baptised 1 Dec 1799; Mary Crampton born 17 Nov 1801, baptised 20 Dec 1801; Thomas Crampton born 31 Oct 1803, baptised 4 Dec 1803; Joseph Crampton born 6 Mar 1805, baptised 7 Apr 1805; Ann born 22 Oct 1810, baptised 13 Jan 1811.

And John Crampton baptised 19 Aug 1798 at St Peter, Leeds, father Thomas Crampton.

OMG, KiteRunner, what a wealth of information. You really have the magic fingers, don't you? Thank you!

I'll have to play around with the FamilySearch again. I don't know why it dropped off my radar. Do I recall they were refurbishing their user interface or something? When I tried to sign on just now they had never heard of me; and when I created a "new" account, with the same identical user name and password as before, they took it with no problem.

Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yes, FamilySearch have completely revamped their site, and anyone who had an old account had to make a new one.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have to ask.......Am I not supposed to still be using the old FS site then? I have three links:

This one I've used for ten years+ and I still use in preference to the other two:

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Sear...set_search.asp

This one I call the pilot site:

http://search.labs.familysearch.org/...1203282703#p=0

and this one I think of as the beta site and which I can't get on with at all:

https://www.familysearch.org/

What's all this about having an account on FS?

I've got an account on there because I registered to do some transcribing, though I have to admit I haven't actually got much done - you can choose to do, say, Essex parish registers, but then you just get whatever page comes, you can't pick which parish and which dates. If you could pick the parish I'd be doing loads! Oh, and I seem to remember you also need an account if you want to send a query / complaint to them?

The old site and the pilot site aren't updated with all the new databases as far as I know, so if you want those you have to use the new site. I don't think it's the beta site any more because the URL that had "beta" in it doesn't work any more.

But I hate the new site

I guess I'll just have to try and get used to it

Thanks Kate!

I'll bet there's new data out there for him these days. No time to look just now.
