Default Leah Benjamin Hart 1789?-1889

Leah was Jewish, so no baptism and I don't know her parents.
I can't remember where I got the information that Leah's maiden name was Benjamin.

Anyway at some point she married Zalig Hart, a fishmonger, who is listed as running a fishmonger's at 101 Middlesex Street (Petticoat Lane) in 1836 Pigot's Directory.

This family tree website says they married 21 Feb 1819 at Great Synagogue, London, but it gives the husband's name as Moses, not Zalig. It also has some info on Leah's father and brother:

Thank you Kite, another avenue to explore! As for the first names, I think Jewish people had synagogue names as well as the ones they used outside. Anyway I shall have to do some more digging.

I think I may have got muddled about Zalig - Leah's son was called Solomon Zalig and alternated his names. Jews usually only name family after members who are dead, but as Solomon Zalig was the eldest of 8 children, its unlikely his father would be called Zalig.

Thanks again for that link.
