Sorry Kite - I was actually wrong in the previous one - it should have been one Mr William Phelps born about 1790. That is who I should have been researching last time.

My apologies. I've missed out on Mr Phelps now lol.

I'm still looking for Richard & Robert Westlake's father tho.

Thanks for the advice, and sorry I stuffed upl

So the Mr Westlake of this thread (father of Richard and Robert) is Robert Westlake who married Sarah Meare 23 Jun 1763 at Moorlinch St Mary, according to FreeREG. By banns. Witnesses George Holbrook and Samuel Sandell. As per the other thread.

There is a Robert Westlake burial at Puriton 1 Jan 1833, age 94 (on FreeREG). So he was born around 1738.

And Sarah Westlake buried 3 Aug 1806, listed on the Somerset RO transcriptions, but it doesn't give her age.

Daughter Ann Westlake baptised 18 May 1766, and son John baptised 17 Jan 1773, in addition to Richard and Robert who you already have.

Kite - Originally I had Robert & Sarah as parents of Richard - and wondering why the dates were wrong, but you suggested that Robert was actually his brother (which I've altered).

The other Robert sounds feasible - the year sounds good (burial and age)

I'll add the other two children you mentioned, to Robert & Richard.

All I need now is when Robert (snr) was born, and who he married and when.

At least I've sorted (or rather you have) - the Robert's out!

I must say 94years old is pretty good for the early 1800's!

I misunderstood you earlier when you said Robert was brother to Richard, I assumed he was the one who married Sarah Meares, but I see now - their father was also called Robert, and he was the one who married Sarah.

I have one problem tho.

Wouldn't he be a brother to the Senior Robert, rather than a son?

Sorry, I don't get what you mean? Robert and Sarah got married in 1763 and had 4 children baptised at Puriton - Ann 1766, Robert 1768, John 1773 and Richard 1775.

My apologies again Kite - it's that time of night - bedtime, and I've been working on fh nearly all day.

I misread 1773 to be 1733 - sorry I confused you. Will keep my mouth shut from now on lol
