Default Week 9 - Frederick James Harvey

Frederick James Harvey was born in Wandsworth in 1888, the eldest surviving son of first cousins, Tom and Sarah Harvey.

Frederick may well have been brought up in Dorset, where both his parents were from. He is with his maternal grandmother for the 1901 census and with an uncle and aunt for the 1911 census when he was a mason's labourer.

On 31st August 1914 Frederick was pronounced fit for active service and joined the Dorset regiment at Blandford (Private 10520).

He was posted to the Balkans in July 1915 and was killed on 10th Aug 1915, most likely just north of Anzac in Turkey. Frederick has no known grave, but his name is recorded on the Helles Memorial along with over 1,100 other men who died the same day.
