London Workhouse Records - ancestry
Admission and Discharge records for a lot of areas have been made searchable by name:

This has just been updated. I don't know what they've added though.

Thanks Kate.
I do wish Ancestry would say what exactly the updates were! A great, great uncle abandoned his wife and children in the workhouse in 1888 and joined the army. So far I've found 335 entries for his poor wife - and that's before I've looked for probable mistranscriptions and alternative spellings of the relatively uncommon surname. Although she had the "easy" forename of Hannah, I've already found her transcribed as Hauunh, Elizth, Han C, Hammock and Bridgett! |

I wish they'd say what they've updated. Can't be that hard surely. Looks like Shoreditch and Bethnal Green to me, judging on family records that have turned up.

There is a huge problem with these records - this record for Matilda Warren shows thus
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...nSearchResults If you look at the filmstrip at the bottom of the image the whole record set show exactly the same image. The same image shows for a lot of the other records too. It would appear to have been reported by other annoyed researchers - I wonder how long it will take them to sort it out!

That's a generic image that shows if the actual image isn't working for some reason.

Well they've an awful lot of images that are not working!

Yes, there are multiple posts about it on their Facebook page and they are supposed to be working on fixing it.
