They were at 28 Standish Street in 1861, too. In 1851, they were in Whalley.

Interesting. In 1851, Sarah A Hirst, aged, 11, is described as an orphan.

Julie, this website has some photos of old Burnley, including one of Standish Street (just scroll down). Now demolished.

Thanks Shona .. the photos give a real idea of what Standish Street would have been like.
There are some good links there too to the local area and possible connections to others from the area. Thank you. I don't know how you know where to look .. Julie

Yesterday, I tried to trace the Dodgeon connection in Todmorden, but with little luck.

A whole clutch of them were living in neighbouring properties in 1841 - and there was a Hirst family there, too.

Parson Croft, Padiham

Robert Dodgeon, 20, power loom weaver
Mary Dodgeon, 20
William Dodgeon, 3 months

John Robinson, 65, cotton weaver

William Hirst, 30, joiner
Nancy Hirst, 35
George Hirst, 10
John Marsden, 20 Cotton Weaver

Robert Dodgeon, 45, cotton weaver
Elizabeth Dodgeon, 15
Mary Dodgeon, 15, power loom weaver
Ann Dodgeon, 14

John Dodgeon, 50, cotton weaver
Ann Dodgeon, 50
John Dodgeon, 15, calico printer

Also in Parson Croft:

Jonathan Dodgeon, 30, overlooker of PL
Nancy Dodgeon, 30
Thomas Dodgeon, 9
Ann Dodgeon, 6
John Dodgeon, 3

These Dodgeons also lived in Padiham:

Pump (?) Road

George Dodgeon, 47, weaver
Betty Dodgeon, 45, weaver
Jane Dodgeon, 17
Thomas Dodgeon, 12
John Dodgeon, 9
Ann Dodgeon, 6

Ousel Row

William Dodgeon, 40, HL weaver
Mary Dodgeon, 40

Lower ?????

Henry (?) Dodgeon, 25, calico printer
Thomas Dodgeon, 6
Jane Dodgeon, 9 months

Thorn Lane

Sarah Dodgeon, 55, cotton weaver
Ann Dodgeon, 20
Alice Dodgeon, 19
Alice Williamson, 75, old
Jane Shempson, 19

Cem Search has the following info on Burnley Cemetery.

Hirst: 51 people, 26 other names in a total of 29 graves, a total of 114 people.

Dodgeon: 24 people, 11 other names in a total of 12 graves, a total of 42 people.

http://www.cemsearch.co.uk/burnley/burnley.html

But, you have to pay to get the details of the memorial inscriptions.

The cemetery opened in 1856.
