I have found a baptism, but I don't know how likely it is, probably not very likely as I'm clutching at straws here:

Parish Record Collection - Baptism Record
Print Close
Baptism Day: 2
Baptism Month: Jan
Baptism Year: 1780
Forename(s): Mary
Surname: Ford
Relationship: Daughter of
Father's Forename: John
Mother's Forename: Rachel
Dedication:
Place: Orlestone
County: Kent
Record Source: Orlestone baptisms 1554-1886
Kent FHS Ref: 696
Record source: Kent Baptisms

It might be too far from Appledore/Rye, although it's not too great a distance. However, wouldn't she have said she was born at Orlestone?

This will is also tantalising:

Abstract of Will of John Ford, Carpenter of Orlestone, Kent. Proved in the Court of Canterbury.

Date:
May 15 1805
Held by:
The National Archives, Kew
