Yes, I'd just found the marriage for David Clayton to Mary Ormerod, which looks good, and I was just looking at those Dakins and Claytons.

There's a promising baptism for Mary Ormerod in Warrington, but not for her husband David Clayton. Haven't found his burial on Lancs OPC, either.

There are numerous possible burials for John Schofield, unfortunately, and numerous possible marriages for Ann and Martha Schofield.

I'm rather confused now with the Hindles/Hindleys!

I've just found it, Mary! I was about to post.

The Hindle on the census before was a widower (and minus the Y for HindleY)

I'm afraid I'm off for the time being, but I'll look in again later before going to bed and I'll check on this post again tomorrow.

Mary Clayton's in Warrington in 1841 with [children] Thomas and David, so a marriage between 1841 and 1851 is right.

Before I go, there are three possible deaths for Mary Hindley in Warrington between 1851 and 1861!

Hindle/Hindley is a fairly common name, so there may not be a connection. The uncle was John Hindle, whereas the possible husband for Mary Clayton was James.

I wouldn't necessarily rule out a connection between the two families, but it may be hard to find.

OK, I'll take a look at those.

Thanks very much for all your hard work this evening - I didn't think I was ever going to get any further back with this family!

I'll start writing everything out in some kind of logical order to see what I need to do next, but the most important thing I was looking for was Jane's parents, which you've definitely cracked
