Criminal records - ancestry
I don't know whether any of these were already available on FMP or elsewhere, but they are new to Ancestry:
Registers of Habitual Criminals and Police Gazettes 1834-1934 (over 250,000 records) Prison Commission Records 1770-1951 (over 1,000,000 records) After-Trial Calendar of Prisoners 1855-1931 (nearly 100,000 records) Calendar of Prisoners 1868-1929 (over 800,000 records) |

Thanks Kite. Found the record of my ex's gt gt grandfather being acquitted of theft in 1844, following evidence of his father and his father-in-law to be. Unfortunately in 1870 he was found guilty of receiving stolen wearing apparel, stolen from Shepherds Bush & spent 5 years in Parkhurst Prison in the Isle of Wight!
