In 1841 Emma's younger sister is 5mths old. As the census was taken in June this is the most likely birth reg:
Name: Ann Jones Year of Registration: 1841 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Hereford County: Herefordshire, Hereford and Worcester, Monmouthshire Volume: 26 Page: 173 though there is another one in the last Q of 1840 (possible if the child was almost 7 months). The right birth cert would obviously give you the details of the mother's maiden surname.

Ah, looking at your week 8 entry for Take One Great-Grandparent, Len, it looks as though this lady was his wife, so not a 2xg-grandparent. If you want to take part in Take One 2xG-Grandparent, your thread for this week (week 1) should be about Ann Watkins, Len.

Thank you for some very useful information, Merry, particularly about siblings. I have printed out your replies and will look at them in depth shortly. Life has been a bit hectic this week, running OH to & from out-patients after having been confined to barracks (snow-clogged) for a week.
