It doesn't mention FamilySearch in the database information, so I don't think so. My best guess would be that they had some data more recent than privacy laws allow and that they had to remove that, but I don't have anything to prove it! I will see if I can find the records I added to my tree and see which, if any, have gone.

Okay, I had found a 1948 marriage where the bride's father's name was someone in my tree, so I had added her to my tree as his daughter and attached the marriage record to her. Now it shows on my tree as just the name of the database, and if I click "View record" it says Error:500, We're sorry, this page is temporarily unavailable. I've looked at various earlier records I had added to my tree which are still there. So it could be that recent records have been removed.

Yet marriage records are available to the public from that time. 100 years for births, 50 for marriage and 25 for deaths. That is NSW. Unfortunately all states are different.

Kite did you add it to an online tree? If you had merged it to an offline tree you would still have the record.

Yes, to an online tree.

Louisa Purkis married William Henry Drake. William was in the commissary and they were in Perth Aus and Tasmania but they left some of their children here. Some of Louisa's family also ended up in Perth and some made it to NSW.

Her parents were James and Elizabeth Sarah nee Viner and his parents John and Jemima nee Nixon.

Two of Louisa's sisters married prominent men in WA. Louisa died in South Africa and her children/grandchildren in Australia were basically left to fend for themselves. I've seen a letter where William refused to help his orphaned 16 yo granddaughter who was left with the care of her siblings from 1yo and up. She asked for 5 pounds. Her parents and maternal grandparents all died within months of each other.
Hi Toni

It's been a while since we've had contact but I came across this post and wondered if you still held the view that William Henry Drake and his daughter, Charlotte, didn't help the orphans of John and Matilda Drake after the untimely deaths of their parents. I have a lot of new information, which I would love to send you, but I don't have your current email address.

All the best
Megan

Hi Megan, I've been thinking of you lately, hoping you were well with covid.

I'll PM my email address.

It hasn't sat well with me that there was no help as the family seem to be very close but I haven't found information to the contrary. I look forward to your information.
