I have Hindles too, Kate, and they are a nightmare to research as the name is so common. Mine are in Church Kirk and Accrington area, and my entries this week are for the parents of a girl who married a Hindle.

You may already know this, but Susannah, Roger's daughter baptised 8 Jun 1817 is listed as their 8th child.

Unsourced record says Roger died 1822.

No, I didn't have that, thanks OC. That's interesting - I only have six with Susanna the fifth of those, so I have a few more to find. I have Peggy 1802, Thomas 1804, Isabel 1806, then a big gap before Edmund 1815, Susanna 1817 and Roger 1819. These are the only children on the Tribal Pages tree that you linked to in the Alice Holden thread, so the others may be hard to find!

Yes, I've looked everywhere and no one else seems to have the missing children either. I THINK they may appear on the Pole Lane Chapel Census, as on there, the family groups were self-reported and usually had dates of birth/baptisms, deaths etc, also the siblings were numbered.

I am sure there WERE more, that huge gap in births between 1807 and 1815 takes some explaining otherwise.

There is an Oliver Duxbury who marries Ann Kay 10 Jun 1844 at St Peter, Bolton, both giving their abode as Entwistle, and his father is Roger Duxbury, labourer. On the 1851 census Oliver is 29, born Over Darwen. So he could belong to Roger and Alice, but he wouldn't be one of the three missing ones before Susanna. There is another Roger having children at the same time as my Roger, though, with a wife Jane, and Oliver's eldest daughter is Jane so maybe he is not one of mine.

I don't think Pole Moor is connected with Pole Lane, Julie. Different county!
