What I was thinking is that if Gwendoline was born in 1900 and was an only child, and that the Leichardt Alice Davies died in 1901 - Alice might have died after Gwendolines birth 5th April 1900.

I didnt look up Gwendoline's birth, as I was given the information that she was born 5th April 1900 at Clifton, NSW (which is between Sydney & Wollongong)

Just noticed your Ancestry message - it was from my friend, as I know she uses the name Isis - so the birth and deaths of Gwendoline are correct as she (I) have birth and death certificates - only the death cert said DAVED.
Quote:
Louis Daved...born Wales, died NSW

Alice Louise David..(note the "i").has her born Wales, but marrying in 1921 in NSW, which is wrong as their source is not her at all. But they have her dying in Petersham NSW in 1942

One child...Gwendoline Margaret Daved, born 5th April 1900 NSW and dying 28 May 1968.
The owner is Isis 149.
I don't know anything about Alice & Louis marrying in 1921 - I'd have thought they would marry around 1899-1900

I think the marriage in 1921 is wrong as the names are not right on it anyway. I think it's just a mistake.

Does that Trove notice look like the correct Alice?

So Alice is Alice Louisa in the death notice, Alice Louise on the death reg, parents John and Mary Ann.

FreeBMD has no matches for the surname Daved at all. David is certainly a common surname in Wales, and the Welsh spelling would be Dafydd.

Jood, does your friend have Alice's death cert? If so, does it say when she arrived in Australia?

No, she only has Gwendoline's death certificate, and Gwendolines daughter.

Thats where I am starting from as she didn't know any more.
All we know is that they were migrants, no idea when they came to Australia.

The Trove "Alice" is definitely right - and Im trying to find that Louis David in Trove in 1958, but still looking.

Hope you feel better tomorrow, Jood.

Alice Louise Tindall married Frank A Liebert or Siebert 1880 Sydney.

Alice Liebert married Lewis David 1898 Woonona.

I think the only thing to do is buy Alice's death cert. That should have how long she was here.

I can't find any marriage for a Louis David anywhere yet.

Have a look at this...
