If that were the right man, it was after he married Editha in 1805.

There's quite a lot on him found by Googling, but I haven't found a baptism yet. However, Bucks. baptisms are sometimes difficult to find.

Oooh, this is looking interesting! I have been waiting for OH to have any part of this branch reaching out of the new Forest! Fawley is really close to where the rest of this branch of OH's family lived.

Name: Charles Andrew Scovil
Gender: Male
Baptism Date: 18 May 1785
Baptism Place: Stone,Buckingham,England
Father: George Scovil
Mother: Mary
FHL Film Number: 1042440

He seems too grand to have had a bastardy order slapped on him and definitely too grand to be mixing with the Willis family from Boldre!

lol Elizabeth!

Ann produced two illegitimate children in her 20s and only married when she was in her late 30s. No children from the marriage.

Ann's younger sister, Sarah, was the prostitute who was murdered by her soldier client in Lymington in 1815. He was the one who was found not guilty of murder despite the heap of evidence against him.

You'll have to list all the alternative spellings of Charles's surname, Merry.

Good idea.

I'm sure I've seen other records for Scuffield from Hants RO. I'll have a look at OH's old notes tomorrow.
