Date, place and cause of death March 1882 Sutton (death registered as Chandler) Date and place of burial 09 Mar 1882 Sutton, Sussex under the name of Chandler with the following spiteful but useful note by the vicar “The Name Chandler was inadvertently inserted here being the name by which the person in question was known in the Parish and Neighbourhood but being born out of Wedlock of a woman named Harwood afterwards married to the father. What a nasty but pedantic man - I guess he would have said the same about my great-great grandma, Thomas' first cousin, Catherine Tupper Harwood, who was born 6 weeks before her parents were married.

I can really visualise the vicar finding this out and sitting down to write his little message! I bet he thought all those who came across it would be very shocked!!!
