Death Duty Register Q
What does it mean if not all the information has been completed for an entry in the above register?
I have this: Year 1899 Name of Deceased........Residence......Date of Death Maynard Henry Nathan..not entered....19 Mar 99 The next few columns are blank; 'Exor or Administrator', 'Registry', 'No. of Affidavit', 'Will or Admon' Then 'Folio' says 187 and the final column, 'Corrective Register Folio', is also blank.

Death Duty registers only go up to - from memory - 1903. Could it be that the structure was already breaking down?
Am I right in thinking that no will was proved? As there is a folio number, I would have thought there was some sort of record, but probably simply saying that the estate was below the limits, so probate/admon not needed.

Oooh, yes, that might be it. HN Maynard was a civil engineer who had done quite well for himself, but apparently lived above his means after he retired, so maybe he had spent everything?! There was no will as far as I know and he outlived all his children, just leaving a widow.
