Zoe Do you have the original photo ? This is a very small file size, scanned at 72 dpi, which results in pixellation. It needs to be scanned at a resolution between 300 and 600 in order to eliminate the pixellation and allow us to get to the detail. How to scan is here http://www.genealogistsforum.co.uk/f...ead.php?t=2301

Looking over the photo a full restoration so it looks like new won't be a problem. As has been stated though, it needs to be scanned in at the right size because restoring at the current size you've scanned would mean you wouldn't be able to print it.
If you're having problems scanning pm me and we can scan it for you. |

Unfortunately I don't have the original photo, my dad has the original and he lives in North Wales, I live in Lincolnshire, I know he won't sent it to me through the post as he has a fear of it being lost and its the only copy he has.

Understandable. Although he could sent it special delivery to pretty much guarantee safe delivery. Or, a better option would be for your Dad to scan the photo for you.
The only issue with the photo you have uploaded is the size of the scan. Looking at the damage to the photo there's no problem in restoring the photo to its original state, we just need the scan to be the correct size so that when the photo it restored you can print it off at a decent size. |
