Default Address help please

My grandmother was in service and I'd like to locate one of the families she was with on the London electoral rolls/ census.

I'm sure I remember the details right :s - that from about c1920-c1922 she was with a family called Walker which I think was formed of a few (middle-aged?) Miss Walkers (including a Mary and I think an Emily) and the address was 52 Princes Gate, Exhibition Road off the Cromwell Road which divides Kensington and Earls Court.

I can find the address if I google and a postcode SW7 2PH but searching for Mary and Emily Walker in Kensington or Chelsea at those times isn't getting me anywhere - they may not be eligible. I looked for the address on the 1911 and couldn't find it but I do struggle with FMP address searches!

Is there a better way around this or is it a bit of a lost cause?

The Post Office London Directory for 1915 says Princes Gate - see Kensington Road (south side).

So if you go on Historical Directories website and choose the London Post Office Directory 1915 - street directory, and go to image no 280 it has Kensington Road and includes Princes Gate numbers 31 to 72. Number 52 isn't listed on that one, though. Maybe we can find it in a different year's directory - got to go and eat supper now though.

Right, I've got you. If I search for one of the neighbours on e/roll or census that might help

Thank you! Looking at Ernest Noel from No 46 on the London PO directories, he turns up on the 1920 electoral rolls and there are Walkers at No 52:-)

I was Googling Walker "52 Princes Gate" and thought it looked promising, but on second look it's probably not very useful.

Thanks Janet - I did that but the images don't necessarily relate to it - must be neighbouring properties
