Thankyou Marg.

Sadly, a very familiar story, not just nuns but workers for Dr Barnados and other agencies routinely told children that all their relatives were dead.

What I don't understand and never will - nuns are women who believe themselves to be brides of Christ. Did they think God/Christ would be pleased with them for telling lies, not just once but over and over again? How did they justify it to themselves?

How terribly sad.

Lying is just unacceptable. I could understand hiding behind privacy laws, if there are any, but to outright lie and to deny them both the opportunity to get to know each other is wrong.

I'm sure he could sue, if he was that sort of person.
