A settlement or removal order was issued when somebody moved from one parish to another (the removal order sent them back to their original parish if the new parish didn't accept that they had a right of settlement).

Not all these orders have survived, but when they do, they're normally held by the local record office.

You could try e-mailing the Record Office for the place you're interested in, and ask if they have any record of the family in their Poor Law and workhouse records.
