I've found two possibles for his baptism on Lancs OPC, both at St Mary and All Saints, Goodshaw - 2 Dec 1798, son of John and Alice, abode Accrington, and 17 Feb 1799, son of Robert and Mally, abode Height Accrington.
My George had sons named Ashworth, John, James, George, Robert, Hargreaves, and William, and daughters named Mary (of which Mally is a variant), Ann and Betty, with Ashworth coming from his wife's mother's maiden name. No Alice that I know of but anyway, the names aren't really conclusive one way or the other. I'll have to see what I can find to work out which of the two baptisms might be my George.
