His son Charles, gave James occupation as Clerk in Booking Office on one marriage and Office Clerk on his second. I think Susannah had ideas above her station! I'm fairly confident that she is James' daughter - she moves to Suffolk and always states her pob as Thatcham and I've not found another Susannah Butcher with father James born in the Berkshire area. My 3x gt grandfather married pre 1837 so father is not given. Any other marriages, if any, were not in London so can't be sure about fathers etc.
Hadn't thought about looking for Wills left by siblings! Will have a look asap.
A trip to Berks RO has long been on my list of "must do's" but I still haven't made it. One day I'll get there and look at the original records. The Bondsman on his marriage licence was a John Salter, landlord of a pub in Newbury. I can't find any relationship though.
