Managed to pop into the local studies centre in NE Lincs today. I checked the monumental inscriptions for Laceby and could find nothing for Faith and her family. However, most of the stones at St Margaret's have been removed.
As regards Stanford School, the trustees set out to find a 'discreet woman' who would teach small boys and girls in her own home. When the boys could read the Psalter correctly and the girls could write and 'cast accounts', they were to proceed to the school room.
Mr A Hainton was the first master and Frances Plumpton was the first mistress. Frances Plumpton held her position until 1752, giving 22 years service. Mr Hainton must have liked his job - he remained master for 50 years.
Two of the 16 children under the Dame in 1737 were: Francis Appleyard and Rebecca Appleyard.
