Default The CWGC

I'd just like to give the CWGC a pat on the back.

Saw a picture of a private WW2 war grave on findagrave taken last Oct/Nov of a very distant rellie of OH.

His parents had died and his wife emigrated, remarried and died. He had no children and his brother had died too

Contacted CWGC on Monday to ask if they maintained private war graves with kerbs etc. They said they monitored them and if too bad could replace with a small name plaque if church authorities agreed.

Within a few days they have sent someone to look at the grave and said they could read the inscription which is the main thing. However they really tidied it up, put the kerbs back together and promised to keep an eye on it in the future. I didn't expect anything to happen for a few months due to the virus.

So thank you to the lady I spoke to, to the Regional Manager and the Maintenance Craftsman for making a huge difference to the grave.
