That section was only supposed to be filled in for married women, but a lot of people didn't read the instructions.

I don't think he could become a "foundling" since he was 6 years old on the 1891 census. But he could have been brought up by another family and given a different name. I spent some time looking for him on later censuses etc earlier and found nothing yet.
