Default If anyone's at a loose end.....

....... could they please help me throw some light on this one?

While turning out some drawers I found an old newspaper clipping about one

of my mother's relatives drowning in a dock on his 21st Birthday. I vaguely

remember hearing this story as a child, but have no idea of his relationship.

His name was Francis Douglas Day and his address was given as The

Handfords, Derrington, Stafford. He's described as a Lance Corporal, and

walked straight out of the mess room & into the water during the blackout,

so I presume it was sometime between 1939 - 45. His father's name was

Edward Day & the inquest, which gave a verdict of Accidental Death, was

held at New Ferry.I haven't been able to find anything else out about him &

am just curious to know where he fits in to my mother's family.
