He really is William too! He is living with the Sage family on some censuses and she is named as dau on his death cert so I've no problem with him!
In 1841 there's William aged 50 followed by Ann aged 50 and some children. This Ann may well be Eliza Easton's mother, but even if she is William's wife, I don't know how long they had been married!
I suppose I should look for her death cert, but even if I had the luck to have Eliza registering her death as well as William's, I would be less comfortable with the description daughter (if it was given!) in case Ann was really a step-parent.
