Thank you Kite, another avenue to explore! As for the first names, I think Jewish people had synagogue names as well as the ones they used outside. Anyway I shall have to do some more digging.

I think I may have got muddled about Zalig - Leah's son was called Solomon Zalig and alternated his names. Jews usually only name family after members who are dead, but as Solomon Zalig was the eldest of 8 children, its unlikely his father would be called Zalig.
