15 Dec 1896 at [8 The Village], Rendcombe, Gloucestershire.
Parents Charles Williams, manservant in mansion [Rendcomb House], and Ellen Williams, formerly Purvey.

08 Jul 1900 Angus' eldest sister Josephine was killed by a runaway horse.

Angus worked for Mr Tarrant the blacksmith.

22 January 1914
Angus joined the Royal Engineers on at Cirencester. Family legend was that he stole his father's bicycle and enlisted to get away from home as he didn't get on with his stepmother. He lied about his age and this was repeated on his death certificate, making him a year older than he really was.

He went out to France on 13 Dec 1914, two days before his 18th birthday.

He was in and around Poperinghe during WW1

Angus began writing to Gladys Smoothy (later his wife) in 1918, having been "introduced" by Gladys' friend Edith, who was married to Angus' cousin Frank Smith, who was also in France.

Oct-Nov 1918 on leave in London and Aylesbury.

Spring 1919 Angus and Gladys had some time together at Woking and Putney. Woking was where Gladys' maternal aunt Kate Chapman lived, and Putney was where her paternal aunt Lou Vine lived with her daughter Flo Poulson.

1920 Angus lived for a time with Gladys' cousin Florence Poulson and her husband, as well as Aunt Lou Vine, at 136 Disraeli Road, Wandsworth.

1921 he went to stay with his aunt Charity "Chat" Davison in Sandgate, Kent. Aunt Chat was a younger half-sister of Angus' mother Ellen.

1923 when he married, Angus' address was 5 Coastguard Cottages, a small row in Hythe. His two daughters Ruth and Rita were born at Cobden Road which is just round the corner.

1825-1930 sons John Angus and Norman Edwin born at Park Road, Hythe.
Angus also served int he 2nd world war in the Home Guard.

During 1930s depression Angus had no regular work. The family moved around various Kentish villages including Stowting, where Angus ran a shop at Threeways, a tin-roofed bungalow.

1943 Angus' son John died of peritonitis following a delayed diagnosis of appendicitis. This was a heavy blow from which Angus didn't recover. By now he was living in Wye.

Later, Angus and Gladys moved to Subdown Cottages in East Brabourne.
