Can I ask where you got the name Jonathan from, please, Morf? And where you got the name John for his father?

FreeREG has his name on the first marriage as John Brabner, with witnesses James Sledge and Elizabeth Fox.

He is also John on the marriage to Maria Richmond, 29 May 1866, at Trinity Church, Pillgwenlly, Monmouthshire. And he signed his own name that way. His father's name on that marriage is given as James Brabner, weaver. Witnesses William Pitney and Anne Burgess.

1841 census - John, age 50, Sarah 60, Elizabeth 20, Eliza 15, Hannah 25.
1851 census - John, age 68, wife Sarah age 73 also born Shepton Mallet.
1861 census - John, age 78, wife Sarah age 83 also born Shepton Mallet.
1871 census - John, age 88, wife Maria age 70 also born Shepton Mallet.

Another thing that confuses me - on your thread about John's first wife Leah, you have her death down as 1828, but FamilySearch has a baptism for Eliza Brabner, 13 Jun 1823, Ebenezer Wesleyan, Shepton Mallet, parents John and Sarah. Date of birth is 7 Jul 1823.

Other baptisms (from FamilySearch transcriptions) -
James 2 Jun 1811, parents John (or Jonathan) and Leah
Hannah 14 Jan 1813, parents Jonathan and Leah
Ann 26 Feb 1815, parents John and Leah
Mary 14 Mar 1817, parents John and Leah
Elizabeth 22 Aug 1819, parents John and Leah.

So, is the burial date for Leah wrong, or is the mother's name or the date on Eliza's baptism wrong? Or was John having children with Sarah while Leah was still alive? Very confusing! I can't find a marriage between John and Sarah at the moment, but there is a likely death for Sarah in 1862.
