Sometimes there is a record showing place of origin but it may not necessarily be held on ancestry. Records vary a lot between different US states. Or there could be, for instance, a book of someone's research into a family or of local history. Sometimes people have done their own research to come up with it and sometimes they have just copied it from someone else or followed ancestry hints.
