On the GRO site today:
We are currently adding to our online indexes which will help you identify and apply for copies of our records. We have now added online indexes for deaths registered between 1984 to 2019.

We will notify you here when more indexes are added online.

They still have a gap between 1957 and 1984, but you can search those years on other sites.

Sorry to say it doesn't show full date of birth for the 1984-2019 deaths, only the year of birth.

If nothing else, it will help me see whether various distant cousins are still alive or not.

Yes, it's quite sad going through people on my tree to find out who has died.

So that's why I've not been able to get into the site in the last hour!
